Maybe you got into houseplants during the pandemic and now your collection of beginner-level plants is thriving. Your snake plant is getting taller, your pothos is spilling over its pot and your spider plant has baby spiderettes! So, what next? Here are 5 houseplants to try after you’ve mastered “easy” ones.
If you’re ready to branch out, these 5 intermediate plants are for you!
🌱 Alocasia Regal Shield (Elephant Ear):
☀️ Partial or dappled sunlight
💦Allow top few inches of soil to dry out between watering
🪴Prefers high humidity and temperatures above 55 degrees
➡️ Well draining, slightly moist soil
🌱Philodendron Gloriosum:
☀️Likes bright, indirect light
💦Sensitive to overwatering; water when top 2-3 inches are dry
🪴Loves warmth and high humidity
➡️Loose and well-draining soil
🌱String of Pearls:
☀️Bright light
💦Water when soil is 1/2 inch dry-sensitive to overwatering
🪴Average indoor temperature and do not require humidity
➡️Succulent soil
🌱Birds Nest Fern:
☀️Medium to bright indirect light, but can tolerate low indirect light.
💦water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.
🪴high humidity and temperature between 65°F-75°F
➡️moist, well-drained soil.
🌱Fiddle Leaf Fig:
Many might not agree, but I think this often considered finicky plant is just misunderstood and belongs on the intermediate plant list!

🪴Temperature between 60-85 and they do not like sudden shifts. Humidity: between 30-65%
